- Press about 2/3 of the crust mixture into the greased baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes until slightly golden.
- In a saucepan, melt additional butter and stir in brown sugar. Gradually add milk, vanilla, and additional flour while stirring.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring continuously for about 3 minutes until thickened.
- Pour the caramel filling over the cooled crust, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle remaining crust mixture on top.
- Reduce oven temperature to 300°F (150°C), bake for an additional 20 minutes until the top layer is golden.
- Allow bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
