Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Warm the milk to 105–115°F, sprinkle yeast on top, and let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk to blend.
  3. Add foamy yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, food coloring, and vanilla to dry ingredients. Mix until dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Roll dough out into a 12 x 18 inch rectangle, spread butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll tightly and slice into 12 pieces.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  9. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together until smooth to make frosting.
  10. Drizzle frosting over warm rolls and serve after cooling for a few minutes.
