Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Spread softened butter generously on one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle garlic powder and Italian seasoning evenly over the buttered sides.
  2. Lay two slices of bread buttered side down. Spread marinara or pizza sauce on the inner sides of each slice, add shredded mozzarella and turkey pepperoni or toppings, then top with remaining bread.
  3. Preheat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place assembled sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side.
  4. Flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side, watching for cheese to melt out slightly.
  5. Remove from skillet, cool for a minute, slice in half, garnish with fresh basil, and serve with marinara for dipping.
